Crossing Thorang-La:
We either stay at Base Camp or High Camp and star earliest in the morning basically to skip the harsh chill factor in the top of Thorang La (5416 m/17,769 ft). The views from the Thorong la pass is truly spectacular, spreads from the northwest Once Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang to the incredible mountain ranges of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri to the south. Descend towards Kaligandiki valley from the pass is challenging but rewarding as we trek to the shrine of Muktinath enjoying and exploring the arid beauty of the Tibetan plateau. We drive from Muktinath all the way to Tatopani (natural hot spring) and stay overnight with a relaxing dip in the hot spring to ease our tired muscles. The next days trek to Ghorepani and then walking to Poonhill for the view is yet another highlight of this trip. Most of the trekkers with a limited time frame take flight from Jomsom to Pokhara also to avoid the newly made motor road while trekking down from Jomsom to Tadapani.
